From emotional hooks to conspiratorial claims: A teen-focused game for reflecting on misinformation interactions

Abstract

Teens frequently encounter misinformation but may lack practical strategies for recognising emotional manipulation, faux expertise, and conspiracy cues. This work presents Wolpertinger Social, a Web-based interactive game that combines narrative gameplay with lightweight modelling of interaction patterns. Through chapters centred on emotional triggers, expert-making, and conspiracy framing, players make choices and receive immediate feedback intended to build awareness of common misinformation tactics.
